The Fire Service successfully managed to bring a fire at Shishu Hospital in Dhaka's Agargaon under control after approximately an hour of intense effort. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, although the incident caused widespread panic among patients and their families, prompting many to evacuate the building.

According to Fire Service spokesman Talha Bin Jashim, the fire broke out around 1:47am in the Cardiac Department on the fourth floor of the hospital. Three units from Mohammadpur Fire Station initially responded to the emergency, with additional support from Siddiquebazar and Tejgaon units to contain the blaze.

Despite efforts to ascertain the cause and extent of damage, the Fire Service Control Room was unable to provide immediate information.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos and fear as people hurried to escape the fire, with Sajeda Akhtar Rima sharing a video on Facebook capturing the tense moments. Hospital Director Dr. Jahangir Alam confirmed the fire's location and assured that all patients from the affected ICU were relocated to safety.

Lt Commander Tanbinur Rahman of the Navy, who aided in firefighting efforts, confirmed the evacuation of ICU patients and staff. Senior Station Officer Md Fakhruddin from Mohammadpur Fire Station stated that upon arrival, firefighters found multiple pieces of equipment ablaze, including an air conditioner in the ICU unit. They swiftly evacuated individuals before initiating firefighting operations.

Regarding the fire's cause, initial suspicions pointed to a malfunctioning AC unit in the ICU, although a thorough investigation is pending confirmation.
