Bangladeshi Youth Killed In BSF Firing

A Bangladeshi cowherd named Abul Kalam Daku (22) was killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Patgram border in Lalmonirhat.

This incident took place in the morning of today Friday (April 26) in Srirampur Union of upazila in BGB Teesta Battalion-2 (61 BGB Battalion) Jhalangi BGB camp number 848 main pillar number 9 sub pillar area.

The deceased Daku is the son of deceased Apir Uddin of Dangapara area of ​​Ward No. 4 of Srirampur Union.

According to BGB, police and the family of the deceased, on Thursday night at 11 pm, some cowherds and some cowherds went to the other side of sub-pillar No. 9 of main pillar No. 848 of Srirampur union border with the help of Indian cattle traders. On their way back, members of the BSF's Doradabri camp patrol fired at them early on Friday night. When Daku was seriously injured in the shooting, his companions rescued him. Later, when he was admitted to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Naib Subedar Nurul Amin, in-charge of Jhalangi camp of 61 BGB battalion, said, "A young man named Abul Kalam Daku was killed in BSF firing. Thana Police has prepared a report on the condition of the body from the Patgram Upazila Health Complex.

He also said that the BGB has sent a protest letter to the BSF and called for a flag meeting.

Mamata Begum, the mother of the deceased, complained and said, "My son's marriage has been fixed." I don't know for what crime BSF shot him dead. I want justice for this murder.

Abu Saeed, OC of Patgram police station, said, "Abul Kalam Daku, who was injured in BSF firing, died on the way to the Patgram hospital by his family members. After the report of the condition of the body, the body has been sent to the mortuary of Lalmonirhat 250 bed hospital for postmortem. He also said that a UD case will be filed in this incident.
