Pilot Asim Jawad’s Body Arrives In Manikganj

The body of deceased Squadron Leader Asim Jawwad, the pilot of a Bangladesh Air Force Yak-130 jet trainer that crashed in Karnaphuli, arrived in Manikganj.

Carrying the body, a helicopter of air force landed at Shaheed Miraz-Tapan stadium around 12:00pm on Friday (May 10).

Family sources said the namaz-e-janaza will be held at the stadium. Later, he will be laid to eternal rest at Seota graveyard in the district town.

Air Force Wing Commander Annu said that a guard of honour was given when the body arrived in Manikganj.

Earlier, the training aircraft took off from the BAF Base Zahurul Haque in Chattogram around 10:25am as part of regular training. It met the accident due to technical glitches while it was returning to the base after the training session.

The rescuers of the BAF and Bangladesh Navy rescued two pilots of the aircraft in an injured condition. Later, they were taken to the city’s Navy Hospital at BNS Issa Khan where doctors declared Asim dead.
