"Everyone thought I was crazy when I talked about growing tomatoes in the desert," said Sky Kurtz, founder of Pure Harvest Smart Farm. The country receives an average of 12 days of rain a year, with only one percent of the land arable. As a result, 80 percent of the food has to be imported. The country is also considered to be completely unsuitable for cultivation.
