Major Sinha Assassination Was Plotted in Secret Meeting: RAB

A charge sheet was filed in the court today (Sunday) alleging that Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, a retired army officer in Bangladesh was killed in a premeditated manner.

Four months after the murder, the RAB's investigating officer submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court today.

Prior to the killing, Teknaf Police OC Pradeep Kumar, who was sacked in a secret meeting, had come up with an original plan to kill him, the RAB said.

Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, Director of RAB's legal and media wing, made the remarks at a press conference at Karwan Bazar in the capital on the issue of the charge sheet.

Earlier in the morning, RAB investigation officer Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Khairul Islam filed a 26-page charge sheet in the Cox's Bazar court.

It was said in the press conference that 15 people have been accused in the charge sheet. Fourteen of them have been arrested and are now in jail.

Among them are dismissed OC of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar, dismissed Inspector of Baharchhara Camp Liakat Ali, SI Nandadulal Rakshit, some policemen of Teknaf Police Station, three members of Armed Battalion Police, three local residents and one other fugitive. He will be Sagar Deb, the bodyguard of dismissed Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar.

Twelve of the 14 inmates have given confessional statements.

Retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed was shot dead by police at a police check post in Cox's Bazar on the night of July 31. Police filed two cases in that incident.

On August 5, Major (Retd) Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahriar filed a murder case in a court accusing nine policemen of the incident. The RAB was given the responsibility of investigating both these cases and the police cases.

The next day, on August 8, OC Pradeep and Liaquat and six others surrendered to the court.

What's in the charge sheet?

Lieutenant Colonel Ashiq Billah, Director, Legal and Media Wing, RAB, gave details of the complaint at a press conference.

He said a total of four cases were filed in connection with the murder of Major Sinha. RAB investigated all the cases under the direction of the court.

One of the cases was related to drugs at Teknaf police station where Shahidul Islam Sifat was accused and a case was filed against Major Sinha and Sifat for obstructing police and government work. Another case was filed against Shipra Debnath at Ramu police station.

The final report of the three cases has been given to the court. A final report has been submitted to acquit them as all the allegations have been proved false and there is no witness evidence in favor of the case.

Case number four Sinha said. Rashed Khan's elder sister Teknaf filed in the court which was handed over to the RAB.

The murder case was investigated by RAB Assistant Superintendent of Police Khairul Islam. The case has been investigated for four months and 10 days and a charge sheet has already been filed. A total of 15 people have been charged in the case. Among them 9 were dismissed policemen of Teknaf police station, 03 were members of APB and 03 were civilians.

There is a fugitive named Constable Sagar Dev. Besides, the two have been released due to incorrect names and addresses.

Twelve of the arrested have pleaded guilty and apologized to the court, the charge sheet said.

OC Pradeep and Constable Rubel Sharma did not testify in court.

The investigating officer took the testimony of 63 witnesses. Chargesheet has been filed in the murder case by bringing various signs and digital content into the period.

Colonel Ashiq Billah said, "It has been confirmed with various witnesses, eyewitness testimonies, evidence and testimony at various levels that it was a premeditated murder. He has tried to cover up the killings and divert them to different sectors.

What was the course of events?

It was said at the press conference, on July 7, Sinha, Shipra Debnath, Sifat and Rufati stayed at Nilima Resort.

At that time, while working with a video channel on YouTube, their closeness with the regional residents was formed.

Colonel Ashiq Billah said he could find out about the hostages, the atrocities that plagued Major Sinha, by mingling with the common people there.

The complaint said Teknaf OC Pradeep had a sanctuary in Cox's Bazar. There was a so-called state. Basically, this arbitrariness, his own attitude of disobeying the law, and his business became a threat to Sinha and his associates.

The complaint also alleges that OC Pradeep used government weapons illegally and was involved in the yaba-centric trade.

The three of them (Sinha, Shipra and Sifat) went to the police station with cameras and devices to find out about these matters to OC Pradeep.

According to the RAB complaint, the police station told them to leave Teknaf or Cox's Bazar immediately. Otherwise, they threatened to "destroy you."

Shipra and Sifat's statements confirmed that there was something sensitive in the laptop. However, they could not be rescued.

However, RAB says that Major Sinha was killed in a conspiracy to continue his work ignoring the threat of OC Pradeep.

Major Sinha was still alive when Pradeep Kumar Das went to the scene shortly after the July 31 night killings.
