US Election: Trump Supporters 'Last Attempt' to Overturn Biden's Victory

Are there any more surprises left in the last act of the drama about the US presidential election?

Is it still possible to reverse Joe Biden's victory in the November 3 election?

At least some Republican senators still expect that.

President Trump and his allies have announced plans by a group of some Republican senators that they will revolt against Senate leaders, and try to block official certification of Joe Biden's victory.

They will make that effort on Wednesday, when the two chambers of the US Congress - the House of Representatives and the Senate - sit in a joint session and officially count the votes already counted by each state's Electoral College and officially announce the winner of the presidential election.

Democrat Joe Biden received 307 electoral votes. Trump got 232, so Mr. by a large margin. Biden has been confirmed as the next US president.

But 11 senators, led by Republican Ted Cruz, are challenging the results of some states, alleging vote rigging in the November 3 election.

However, no evidence was found to support these allegations of vote rigging. The judges have dismissed almost all the allegations made in the court.

The latest news - Vice President Mike Pence has already congratulated the initiative.

He will preside over the session on Wednesday.

However, analysts say that this attempt to reverse the election results will almost certainly fail.

According to them, the role of the vice president in Wednesday's session is nothing more than a formality.

But the Washington Post reports that President Trump has been told by some of his allies that the vice president has the power to overturn the election results and can reject Joe Biden's electors if he wants to.

These steps have already caused a split in the Republican Party. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, meanwhile, congratulated Biden on his victory and called on his allies not to challenge the outcome.

But senators from Ted Cruz's group say they will do the challenge. They will demand a 10-day emergency audit to investigate allegations of vote rigging.

''A lot more is coming up," Trump says.

He called on thousands of his supporters to gather in Washington on Wednesday to protest his election defeat.
