Rescued Elephant Dies While Undergoing Treatment at Dulahazra Safari Park

Another rescued elephant died in a span of 48 hours at Dulahazara Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Cox's Bazar. The 86-year-old elephant 'Rongmala' died at around 6 pm on Wednesday (November 30).

Earlier, an elephant named 'Soikot Bahadur' died of a stroke on November 28 at 4:30 pm.

Safari Park Officer-in-Charge Md Mazharul Islam said that two ears of "Rongmala" were injured. She was under treatment for eight months. Eventually, the elephant died on Wednesday evening.

It is known that the elephant was seized and handed over to the Safari Park during collection in Chittagong city one and a half years ago. The elephant has been sick ever since it was handed over to the safari park.

Finally, on February 24, a five-member team of veterinary doctors was formed for the better treatment of the elephant. Later on February 28, the elephant's body was operated on. On April 1, the health of the elephant was again checked and it was ordered to be properly dressed for the injury.

Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of the park, said that for eight months, Rongmala was kept in the wild animal treatment center of the park and was being treated regularly.
