Shivering cold accompanied by dense fog has hit the northern districts of Bangladesh hard, disrupting the normal life of people.

The whole region is in a grip of cold wave conditions as temperatures plummet. The bone-chilling cold is forcing people to stay home. The daily wage earners are the worst sufferer as they could not go out for work.

Some people were seen warming themselves in the morning after setting fire to husks beside the road.

The roads continue to be covered in the fog all day, and people cannot see the sun for a moment. Vehicles have to move with headlights even in the daytime, and cold is forcing people to stay home.  The temperature starts to drop as evening falls.

The pressure of patients suffering from cold-related diseases has increased in hospitals.

Rangpur and Dinajpur witnessed temperatures in a range between 10 to 11 degrees Celsius.
