Bangladesh Jatiyo Hindu Mohajot (National Hindu Grand Alliance) has demanded a three-day official holiday on Durga Puja. The organization made this claim at a press conference organized at the National Press Club on Friday (September 29).

In a written statement, Palash Kanti, Executive Secretary General and Spokesperson of the Mahajot, demanded a public holiday on the Ashtami, Nabami and Dashami in press conference. Besides, he also called for strengthening the security in every temple from 10 days before the puja and survellience at the time of puja with provision of CCTV cameras at government expense in all the permanent and temporary temples. Apart from this, he demanded the speedy implementation of the Minority Protection Act and the constitution of the Minority Commission and the equal application of the Digital Security Act for all.

Speakers in the press conference said that the Hindu community has to be busy with religious activities for five days and observe the religious customs. One has to perform Durga Puja successfully by following the religious rules by being busy day and night. There is only one day of public holiday in the five-day Durga Puja, due to which many of the Hindu community are unable to attend the Durga Puja from the beginning to the end and complete the puja joy and religious sacrifices. Can't even share the joy of worship with family.

The press conference was presided over by Prabhas Chandra Roy, president of the Mahajot. Chief Coordinator Sonali Das, Chief Coordinator of Hindu Juba Mahajot Pankaj Halder, President of Hindu Chhatra Mahajot Anupam Das and others spoke.

Palash Kanti, the alliance's executive secretary general, said it was feared that communal forces might strike during Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the Hindu community. I fear that as the puja approaches, the incidents of vandalism of temples and idols will increase.

Demanding that the digital security law be equal for all, the leaders of the organization said that if this demand is not met, a protest program will be held across the country on October 13.
