In the budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year, there may be a proposal to impose duties and taxes on various products. Due to this, the prices of many products may go up.
Finance
Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will present the budget (proposed) in Parliament on
Thursday (June 3) afternoon.
The main
theme of this year's budget is "Bangladesh
on a Strong Future with a Priority in Life and Livelihood". The size of the budget of the third fiscal year of the third term of the Awami League is Tk 6 lakh 3 thousand 681
crore.
New tariffs
may be imposed on imported luxury goods such as body sprays, cosmetics, juices,
packaged foods, etc. As a result, the prices of these products may go up.
Due to the
imposition of additional tariffs, tariffs on tobacco products will be imposed
according to the slab in this year's budget. According to NBR sources, in the
case of cigarettes, prices may rise on a slab in the middle row.
Due to the
imposition of advance tax, the price of alcohol will go up. In the proposed
budget, advance tax on wine imports may increase by 20 percent.
The
imposition of VAT may increase the prices of sanitary table wire, kitchen wire
and tiles at the retail level.
The price of
imported smartphones may go up further by imposing tariffs on the protection of
domestic products. In that case, the domestic companies are getting benefits.
Imposition
of tariffs on imported capsicum and baby corn to protect domestic agricultural
products could push up the prices of these products.
