Following the implementation of the Tk 6,03,681 crore planned national budget for the 2021-22 financial year, a number of products on the market are expected to see both price rises and falls.

The country's largest budget, tabled in parliament on Thursday by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, aims to strengthen economic activities and growth in the pandemic-affected economy.

For some products, income tax, duty, VAT, advance tax, or extra duty were increased in the incumbent government's 13th budget, whereas for others, they were waived.

Product prices are set to rise:

  • ·        Alcoholic beverages
  • ·        Cigarette
  • ·        Lubricants
  • ·        Imported feature phone
  • ·        Imported poultry
  • ·        Imported carrot and mushroom
  • ·        Industrial salt
  • ·        Tiles & Sanitary ware
  • ·        Mean-based processed food
  • ·        Theme park rides


Price reductions for the following products:

  • ·        Covid test kit
  • ·        Medical devices
  • ·        Local LPG cylinder
  • ·        Agricultural machines
  • ·        Puffed rice
  • ·        Fresh fruit
  • ·        Hybrid cars
  • ·        Microbus
  • ·        Led lights
  • ·        Cancer medicine
  • ·        Local poultry items
  • ·        Sanitary napkin (locally produced) and its raw products
