Dhaka, Tashkent Discuss Issues of Tourism, Avoiding Double Taxation

Bangladesh has urged Uzbekistan to sign a tourism agreement, to finalize a double taxation agreement for traders and to set up an embassy in Dhaka.

The two countries have discussed having their first Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) meeting in the first quarter of the current year, signing the Diplomatic and Official Passport Visa Waiver Deal, resuming direct flights to and from Europe on the Tashkent-Dhaka-Tashkent route, and holding a third Joint Working Commission meeting in Dhaka, reports media.

Uzbekistan Concurrently accredited Ambassador to India in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka Dilshod Akhatov (Deputy Foreign Minister) visited the Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent and met with Md Zahangir Alam, Ambassador of Bangladesh, on Friday.

During the meeting, Bangladesh's Ambassador called on his Uzbek counterpart to support the initiative of the Bangladesh Embassy on the above-mentioned issues.

Akhatov told Bangladesh's Ambassador that he will take up the matter with his government to speed up the process between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan on these bilateral issues.

DCM and Minister of Bangladesh Embassy Nripendra Chandra Debnath and First Secretary of Uzbekistan Embassy in New Delhi Azamjon Mansurov were present during the meeting.

At the end of the meeting Dilshod Akhatov visited the Bangabandhu Corner at the embassy and signed the visitors' book there.
