Md. Afzal Karim New Managing Director of BHBFC

Md. Afzal Karim has joined Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) as the Managing Director on 01.03.2021 following a Gazette from the Department of Financial Institutions, Ministry of Finance, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

Prior to joining BHBFC, he was the Deputy Managing Director of Sonali Bank Limited. Previously he discharged various duties and performed important tasks as Deputy Managing Director and General Manager in various departments and offices of Bangladesh Krishi Bank. He was awarded the Integrity Award of Bangladesh Krishi Bank for the 2018-19 financial year in recognition of his honesty and efficiency.

He joined BHBFC in 1995 as Senior Principal Officer and also served as the Deputy General Manager and General Manager (current charge) with the responsibilities of various departments. 

Prior to joining Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, he served the Sena Kallyan Sangstha, a Multinational Company and Bangladesh Tea Board as Project Head and Assistant Manager respectively.

Md. Afzal Karim was born in an aristocratic Muslim family in Mehendiganj Upazila of the Barisal district. He obtained BSc in Engineering (Mechanical) from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), a Diploma in Post Graduate in Institute of Management in Bangladesh and an MBA (major in Finance and Banking). He participated in various training courses, seminars and workshops on banking activities held at home and abroad and traveled to various countries including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Italy in his long banking career.
