The
process of refunding customers stuck in e-commerce establishments will start
soon. Legal opinion will be taken before that.
This
was stated by the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce AHM Safiquzzaman
after a meeting of the committee formed to resolve the complexities of
e-commerce at the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 8) morning.
Regarding
the refund of customers, Additional Secretary AHM Safiquzzaman said that the
money was in a court of law and it would take some time to get it out. People
need to be patient. This money is totally in our payment gateway. But if we get
our legal issuer clearance, we will tell Bangladesh Bank. In the system where
the customer has paid the money, this payment method is done through online. So
he/she will be refunded online.
Instructions
will go from Bangladesh Bank. Those third parties will be able to send the
money automatically from the place where the money is deposited to those who
have made the payment. There is a legal issue here so we are waiting for the opinion
of the Ministry of Law.
He
further said that it may take some time for the customers who have sued for not
getting the product to get the money. The rest of the money will be released
directly from the gateway. The committee will submit the recommendation of the
meeting to the cabinet tomorrow.
The
Additional Secretary also said that the progress of refund of Evaly customers
depends on the management committee appointed by the court.
