Commerce
Minister Tipu Munshi said that there is no restriction on the import of food
from Russia and Ukraine. Bangladesh can import food from these two countries
with dollars through 24 banks of the world.
He
said these things in the meeting held at the cabinet department on Thursday
afternoon regarding the country's food import and storage and the problem of
imports from Ukraine-Russia.
At
the end of the meeting, the Minister of Commerce told reporters that two issues
were discussed in the meeting. Discussion on food import problems from Russia
and Ukraine and the overall food situation in the country.
He
also said that from now there is no problem importing food from Russia and
Ukraine.
In
response to a question, he said that efforts are being made to increase exports
in the pharmaceutical sector and efforts are being made to increase dollar income
from other sectors as well.
Food
Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said that there was a discussion on a relaxed
import and relaxed payment system. Wheat and rice will continue to arrive very
soon.
He
also said that various food-friendly programs including OMS will be started
across the country from September 1. Under this program, TCB card holders can
also buy 10 kg of rice at a cheap price. Due to these food-friendly programs
the price of rice will stabilize soon.
