Govt to Purchase Soybean Oil, Lentils Worth Tk 158Cr

The government has approved the purchase of 55 lakh liters of soybean oil and 8,000 metric tons of lentils with a cost of Tk 158,40,57,200 for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). Out of this, the oil will be bought with Tk 89,61,70,000 and lentils with Tk 68,78,87,200.

The proposal was approved in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase(CCGP) held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday.

At the end of the meeting, Syed Mahbub, the additional secretary of the Cabinet Division, presented the details of the approved proposals. 

He said a proposal by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and 17 proposals from Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase (CCPP) have been approved in the meeting. 

“The government will buy 55 lakh liters of soybean oil with Tk 89,61,70,000 for TCB through the local open tender process. In this, the price of soybean per liter will be Tk 162.94 which was Tk 171.85 earlier. Besides, approval has been given to purchase 8,000 metric tons of lentils with Tk 68,78,87,200 locally by the open tender system through TCB,” Syed Mahbub also said. 

Syed Mahbub said that TCB has approved to purchase of 55 lakh liters of soybean oil from Super Oil Refinery Limited through the local open tender process. The total cost is Tk 87,97,25,000 with Tk 159.95 per liter which was Tk 185 earlier. Besides, approval has been given for the purchase of 8,000 metric tons of lentils through the local open tender system for TCB. It will cost Tk 70,98,66,000 with Tk 88.33 per kg which was Tk 110 per kg earlier.

Earlier, in the CCGP meeting held on September 21, it was decided to purchase 1.65 crore liters of soybean oil with Tk 305.25 crore from three domestic companies through TCB. Among these, the proposal to purchase 55 lakh liters of soybean oil from Super Oil Refinery Limited at Tk 101.75 crore was approved. 

Besides, the CCGP approved the proposal to purchase 55 lakh liters of soybean oil from City Edible Oil Limited at Tk 101.75 crore and 55 lakh liters from Meghna Edible Oil Refinery Ltd at Tk 101.75 crore._Agencies
