Bank Transaction Disruption amid BB Server Issue

Banks are experiencing trouble settling transactions with other banks as a result of a technical problem with Bangladesh Bank's (BB) Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, according to bankers today.

"We have not been able to do any interbank transaction because of a problem in the RTGS," said a senior official of a private bank seeking to remain unnamed.

The banker claimed that RTGS accounts for the majority of daily interbank transactions and that most of the transactions have been affected by the system issue.

Over 90% of all interbank transactions are accounted for using RTGS, he noted.

According to the official, there has been problem for the past few days. Today it has gotten intense, he continued.

According to the official, the problem frequently arises when businesses pay their employees' monthly salaries.

Md Sarwar Hossain, assistant spokesperson of the BB, said there has been technical problems. "We are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
