The flagship vessel MV Bashundhara Impress from Bangladesh has arrived at Mongla port, carrying a cargo of 31,300 metric tons of coal destined for the Rampal thermal power plant. The ship docked at Harbaria-11 along the Poshur channel of the port at 5 a.m. on Saturday.

During the morning shift, the imported coal was offloaded from the ship into lighter vessels. Once the lighters are loaded to capacity, the coal will be transported to the Rampal thermal power station's jetty.

Previously, on September 4, the commercial ship MV Bashundhara Impress departed from Muara Pattai port in Indonesia with a cargo of 49,700 metric tons of coal bound for Bangladesh.

Assistant Manager Khandkar Riazul Haque, along with the local shipping agent Togi Shipping and Logistics Limited in Khulna, has confirmed these details.

Haque explained that the MV Bashundhara Impress brought 49,700 metric tons of coal to Bangladesh, with 18,400 metric tons being offloaded at Chittagong Port and subsequently transported to the Rampal thermal power station via lighter vessels. The remaining 31,300 metric tons of coal on board were received at Mongla port, where coal unloading has commenced. The coal will be transferred to the power plant's jetty by ship and stored in the yard from there.
