About 4000 metric tons of hilsa will be sent from Bangladesh to India. The hilsa importers of India think that the import period is totally insufficient.

They say that the ban on fishing hilsa by Bangladesh will start within the deadline for importation to India. So they actually get only 22 days to bring this huge amount of hilsa.

They have sent a letter to the Bangladesh Vice-Embassy in Kolkata requesting that the remaining amount of hilsa be brought after the ban on hilsa fishing is lifted.

The first consignment of Bangladeshi hilsa reached Kolkata on Thursday night and it started selling in the markets of Kolkata from Friday.

The government of Bangladesh has approved the export of 3950 metric tons of hilsa to India this year on the occasion of Durga Puja.

This year Durga Puja is from 21st October to 24th October. At that time there will be a ban on catching hilsa in Bangladesh, the possibility of importation to India is also unlikely.

Therefore, it is considered that the hilsa of Bangladesh will not fall on the feet of the people of West Bengal during the puja.
