Over the extended weekend spanning from Thursday (28 September) to Saturday (30 September), Cox's Bazar reportedly generated a substantial business income of at least Tk360 crore from tourism, according to the President of the Cox's Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Abu Morshed Chowdhury Khoka.

Khoka stated that during these three days, an estimated average of 100,000 visitors flocked to Cox's Bazar each day, although exact figures for tourist arrivals and expenditures remain undetermined. He explained that tourists typically spend between Tk10,000 to Tk15,000 per day while visiting Cox's Bazar.

The surge in tourism activity was attributed to the three-day extended weekend and a week-long tourism fair and beach carnival organized by the Cox's Bazar district administration in honor of Tourism Day.

Cox's Bazar Hotel Motel Guest House Owners' Association President, Abul Kashem Sikder, revealed that during these three consecutive days, 99% of the 500 residential hotels and motels in Cox's Bazar were fully booked. The data suggests an average of one lakh tourists staying in Cox's Bazar daily during this period, amounting to over three lakh tourists over the three days.

However, it was noted that tourist numbers began to decline starting on Sunday, with fewer than 10% of tourists remaining in Cox's Bazar. The week-long tourism fair and beach carnival will continue until October 3, despite the drop in tourist arrivals.
