Every year, some unscrupulous businessmen illegally sell widely used products during iftar and sehri without adhering to quality standards. This poses health risks to the general public. Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has issued warnings regarding the sale of such products.

In a notice, BSTI has stated that the sale, distribution, and commercial advertising of 273 products have been prohibited without BSTI's quality certification (CM license). Among these products are soft drink powders, fruit syrups, fruit juices, ghee, vermicelli, murabba, noodles, pasteurized liquid milk, edible oil, packaged drinking water/mineral water, carbonated beverages, and ice cream, which are commonly used during iftar and sehri.

BSTI has urged all concerned parties to refrain from selling, distributing, storing, and transporting these food and beverage items without BSTI approval. The institution emphasizes that selling such products without the CM license is a punishable offense. BSTI's surveillance and legal proceedings remain uninterrupted. Moreover, BSTI plans to intensify its efforts during the Ramadan period.

Any information or complaints regarding these matters should be directly reported to BSTI's divisional or district offices, the One-Stop Service Center, or the hotline number 16119, or via email ([email protected]).
