'Onions Coming From India Next Week'

State Minister of Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu said that 50 thousand metric tons of onion will start coming from India from this week. Our main aim is that as consumers don’t require to buy daily necessities at high prices before Ramadan.

He informed this while talking to the journalists after the event organized by Association of Grassroot Women Entrepreneurs Bangladesh (AGWB) at Bangabandhu International Conference Center today, Saturday (March 02).

Minister held a meeting with India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal at the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Abu Dhabi.

Regarding the topic of the meeting, Titu said that there was a meeting with the Commerce Minister of India at the WTO. He (Piyush Goyal) sat there and instructed to issue the letter. The letter has been issued. We have received a copy of the letter. We got the letter yesterday (Friday).

Earlier Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud visited Delhi from 7 to 9 February. During his visit, the External Affairs Minister held a meeting with India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

In that meeting, he discussed regarding the import of 50,000 tons of onions and 100,000 tons of sugar from India before Ramadan.
