State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the price of fuel oil is decreasing this March. The new oil price is awaiting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's approval. If the price of fuel oil decreases, the fare of public transport will also decrease.

He gave this information yesterday Sunday (March 3) while talking to reporters at the secretariat.

Nasrul Hamid said, it will start from the first week of March, and now we are awaiting the approval of the Prime Minister. We want pricing adjustments every month. Hopefully, if we can start the pricing adjustment this month, it will save some fuel oil prices.

He also said, our main target is diesel, which is used more. Used in our irrigation, used in our transports, used in trucks, used in buses. We want the benefit of the public.

In response to the question of whether public transport fares will be reduced if the prices are reduced, the state minister said, I think it should be reduced. We have planned to sit with the organizations that are working here. However, we are coming out of the complaint that if the price is reduced in the international market, it is not reduced in the country.

It should be noted that on August 30, 2022, diesel and kerosene were reduced from Tk 114 to Tk 109 per liter, petrol was reduced from Tk 135 to Tk 130 and octane was reduced from Tk 135 to Tk 130.
