The Director General of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, A.H.M. Shafiquzzaman, has said that the Ministry of Commerce will adjust the prices of Zahidi dates within two days to ensure the welfare of consumers during Ramadan.

He said this at the inaugural ceremony of a program where group-oriented products will be sold at discounted prices to ordinary consumers in the capital's Karwan Bazar today (March 10th) in observance of Ramadan.

He said, "The Ministry of Commerce will adjust the prices of Zahidi dates within today and tomorrow. Meetings will also be held with importers to monitor the prices of other dates. The consumer rights campaign will be conducted throughout the year. The Consumer Rights Protection Department will take measures to understand the market situation and ensure consumer rights. Efforts will be made to maintain coordination with other organizations to keep this market control intact."

Referring to the rise in commodity prices during Ramadan, the DG of Consumer Rights said, "This Ramadan, TK Group is offering discounts of 5-50 percent on nearly 30 products. Other industrial groups in the country should also come forward to reduce consumer distress."
