Ghanaian Delegation Explores Trade and Investment Opportunities With Bangladesh

A delegation from the Ghanaian government, led by Edward Ashong-Lartey, Director of Investor Services at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, expressed interest in enhancing trade and investment ties with Bangladesh during a meeting in Dhaka. The delegation met with Ebrahim Dawood Mamoon, Honorary Consul of Ghana in Bangladesh, who warmly received them at the Kai-Altech Group, where he serves as Chairman.

Mamoon, also the Honorary Consul, welcomed the Ghanaian team, highlighting his group's ventures in non-textile industries such as aluminum, stainless steel, and paper production. The Ghanaian delegation, represented by Kwasi Ofori-Antwi from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Eugene T Sangmortey, and Alamgir Hossain from GIZ Ghana, shared their purpose of fostering trade and investment between the two nations. Discussions revolved around potential collaborations in pharmaceuticals, automobile industries, and other sectors.

Mamoon expressed interest in exploring contract farming and trade opportunities, while also remaining open to viable business prospects. The Ghanaian team extended an invitation for Mamoon and other interested parties to visit Ghana to explore further partnerships.

Both parties expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade and industry, aiming to deepen the friendship between Bangladesh and Ghana. The Ghanaian delegation learned about the small yet active Ghanaian community in Bangladesh, many of whom are pursuing higher education or participating in soccer. The meeting concluded with a tour of the newly inaugurated Consulate of Ghana, with hopes that this visit would pave the way for increased collaboration in the trade and investment sectors.
