The government has revised the prices of diesel and kerosene following the new formula of adjusting local prices to the international market.

Diesel and kerosene prices have been reduced by Tk 2.25 per litre. They will cost Tk 106 per litre from April 1, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources officially announced Sunday (March 31).

However, petrol and octane prices have remained unchanged.

On March 1, the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources announced that the government will set the automatic price of fuel every month in coordination with the international market. Initially, this system will be effective in March.

This automatic pricing system will be applicable for petroleum products (diesel, kerosene, octane, and petrol) as well as all grades of fuel oil that the government sets the selling price of.

However, if the government or Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) deems it necessary, they can apply the said directive subject to conditions in the case of other petroleum products.

This guideline was first followed earlier this month. At that time, octane’s price was brought down to Tk 126 per litre after a Tk 4 cut, while petrol price was reduced by Tk 3 to Tk 122.

Diesel and kerosene prices were slashed by Tk 0.79 per litre to Tk 108.25.
