Low-Lying Coastal Regions Might Be Flooded Due to Monsoon Land Depression

Low-lying parts of Bangladesh's coastal districts and their outlying islands and chars are expected to be swamped by the wind-driven surge, at the height of 2-3 feet above normal astronomical tide, under the influence of a full moon and sharp pressure gradient.

Over Khulna and surrounding parts of Bangladesh, the monsoon deep depression traveled west-northwest and deteriorated into a land depression. It presently lays over India's West Bengal-Bihar and neighboring territories, stated a Bangladesh Meteorological Department advisory on Wednesday.

It is anticipated to keep moving west-northwestward before weakening.

Over Bangladesh's north Bay and surrounding coastal regions, a sharp pressure gradient continues to exist as a result of its effect.

Squally weather is predicted to prevail across Bangladesh's north Bay and other coastal regions.

It has been suggested that the local cautionary signal number 3 be kept affixed to the masts at the marine ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra. It has been recommended that all trawlers and fishing vessels in North Bay remain in cover until further notice.
