3,214 Entrepreneurs Get TK 35.50-Cr SME Loan in Rajshahi

A total of 3,214 businessmen earned SME loans worth about TK 35.50 crore in various business-friendly areas during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (2019-2020) ended last January.

SME Financing Company Limited, a subsidiary of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB), disbursed this loan to support the market.

This was announced at today's 28th meeting of the company's governing council conducted here at RAKUB Headquarters board room, a press release from RAKUB said here.

The company also made loans in 43 districts of Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Natore, Naogaon, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Bogra, Joypurhat and Kurigram from TK 32.17 crore from 2,488 businessmen during the same time.

The meeting was headed by Roisul Alam, Chairman of the Board and RAKUB, among others, by RAKUB Managing Director AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan and members of the Board of Directors Sayed Kutub, Prof Rustam Ali Ahmed, Muhammad Idrish, Ruhul Amin and Abdullah Salah Uddin Gazi, Chief Executive Officer.

The meeting was told that loans were disbursed with the main thrust of creating an intensive investment scope for the agro-based SMEs in the light of the government industrial policy and for supplementing the government’s efforts to attain food security and economic emancipation.

Various business fields especially software, agro-processing and its business, agriculture, plantation, fisheries, poultry, tissue culture, leather goods, health service, and diagnostic centers and education services have been selected for investment as small and medium enterprise loans, the release added.
