Padma Bridge Collects Record Tk 4.19cr Toll in 24 Hrs

The Padma Bridge has hit a new 24-hour toll collection record as the bridge authorities collected Tk4,19,39,650 on Friday, reports media.

“As many as 31,723 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge yesterday (Friday) and more than Tk 4.19 crore was collected, which is the highest amount earned so far in a single day,” confirmed Bangladesh Bridge Authority Executive Engineer Mahmudur Rahman.

Among the vehicles, 13,159 private cars and 7,722 buses crossed the bridge, he added.

Since its inauguration, a large number of vehicles have been crossing the bridge that has connected the capital Dhaka with the 21 districts of the south-western parts of the country.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the country's longest-ever 6.15km Padma Multipurpose Bridge on June 25 and it was opened to traffic the next morning.
