Working on Education System during And after COVID-19: Minister

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said on Thursday that her ministry is focusing on the education sector during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The Ministry of Education is working on what sort of improvements can be made to the education sector before and during the pandemic," she said.

She made the remarks while addressing an online meeting on the education system with the participation of senior officials of the Ministry of Education and heads of various departments and agencies under the ministry.

She instructed teachers of secondary, higher secondary, madrasa and technical schools to keep students motivated through direct communication in compliance with the hygiene rules or via social media during the pandemic. 

The meeting agreed to extend the holidays of all educational institutions in the region, except Qawmi Madrasa, to 3 October. It also concentrated on rendering online training programs more successful at the university level.

The Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the Secondary and Higher Education Section and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board of Officials were ordered to recommend alternate testing approaches for HSC and other exams in separate secondary education institutions.

Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain and Technical and Madrasa Education Secretary Md Aminul Islam Khan attended the meeting alongside other officials.
