‘O’ Level Exams Begin Monday

'O' level exams are expected to begin on Monday, three days after the 'A' level test has begun.

The British Council is hosting the exams following the recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the department of health in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, reports UNB.

‘A’ and ‘O’ level examinations will continue till October 23.

On 23 September, the Ministry of Education released a notice allowing the authorities concerned to carry out examinations on the conditions in which they meet health guidelines, to allow 1,800 students to take examinations every day at 35 locations, and to maintain a six-foot distance between examinations.

It said the British Council will have to bear responsibility if any student is infected with Covid-19.

On 30 September, the High Court dismissed a written petition requesting a stay in the 'A' stage 'O' review process this year in the midst of the pandemic.

'A' level student Tamann Tabassum Kabir filed a written petition on Sep 27 alleging that students were unable to prepare for the test, as the classes remained suspended for six months.

On 23 September, the British Council announced in a statement that the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), 'A' level and 'O' level exams will be conducted in due time during the October-November (2020) session.

It also secured approval from the Education Ministry in this regard.
