Secondary-level students will be automatically promoted to the next class due to the current pandemic situation of Covid-19 in the country.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced it today at a virtual press conference.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) will set up a new curriculum, and students will receive weekly assignments. NCTB has prepared a syllabus that can be completed within 30 working days.

Students will have to collect and complete these assignments within a week and submit them. Teachers will review these assessments in order to understand the weakness of students and attempt to correct them.

If students do not have access to TV or websites, they have been urged to contact their educational institutions to collect the syllabus and assignments.

On 16 March, the education ministry issued a statement announcing the government's decision to keep all educational institutions and coaching centres shut for 18-31 March, taking into consideration the students' safety amid the pandemic.

Classes have remained suspended since then, but the administrative functions of the institutions have steadily resumed.

The Government has recently extended the closure of all educational institutions to 31 October.
