Prof. Humayun Akhter Made BOU's New VC

The former professor of Dhaka University's Geology department Dr. Humayun Akhter has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor on Bangladesh Open University (BOU) for the next four years. The education ministry issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.

Dr. Humayun previously served as provost of Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall of the University of Dhaka. He received his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees from Dhaka University.

He was also awarded an Indian Government scholarship in 1980 for postgraduate study and earned Ph.D. in 1986 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

He joined the Department of Geology, Dhaka University as a Lecturer in the year 1987, said a press release.
