Due to Covid-19, the
Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee examinations for fifth graders
will not be held this year.
Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina approved a proposal on Sunday for suspending the exams this year.
Students will, however,
be promoted to class VI based on their performance in annual examinations.
Alamgir Muhammad
Monsurul Alam, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education,
confirmed the news.
The Ministry of Primary
and Mass Education had previously decided to cancel the exams in principle.
On October 7, a brief
proposal was submitted to the premier in order to make a final decision.
The Prime Minister's
Office (PMO) approved the cancellation as well.
