Chattogram Medical College Closed Sine Die

Following a dispute between two factions of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Chattogram Medical College (CMC) has been declared closed sine die.

Students have been instructed to vacate halls and dormitories by the authorities. The decision was made at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.

Prof Dr Shahena Akter, the principal of CMC, confirmed the matter to the media.

A confrontation between two groups of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Chattogram Medical College (CMC) over establishing supremacy in the school injured three people.

The incident occurred on Friday evening (October 29) then again at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (October 30).

Sadekur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Panchlaish Police Station, confirmed the incident.

According to police and local sources, there has been a long-running feud between two BCL sections of the CMC unit over dominance on campus. As a result, conflicts and chases, as well as counter-chases, occurred twice between two groups, leaving three people hurt on both sides.

Naimul Islam, 20, Mahfuzul Haque, 23, and Akib Hossain, 21, are among the injured.

An additional police force has been deployed on campus, according to Panchlaish OC. The situation there is currently peaceful.
