Not All Students Will Get Textbooks on January 1st

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, considering the coronavirus situation, the book festival is not happening again. And students will not get all the books on January 1st. The remaining books will be distributed in the first week of January.

"According to our calculations so far, students will get 95 percent of the books at the beginning," she said.

Dr. Dipu Moni made the remarks after inspecting a printing press in the Matuail area of ​​the capital on Thursday (December 23rd).

The education minister said 95 percent of the books for the New Year have been made. At present they are being delivered at the school level. The remaining 5 percent of books will be delivered to schools in the first week of January.

She said so far almost all the primary books are reaching the district level. 21 crore secondary books have been bound, the remaining 16 crore books have been provided. All the bookbinding work will be completed in the next three-four days. It will then be sent to the school level.

In response to a question from journalists about the quality of the book, Dipu Moni said, "We want the quality of the book to be good." If we find out that someone has done a bad job, we will take action against them. The National Curriculum and Textbook Board is monitoring the textbooks two to three days a week to ensure that the quality of the textbooks is correct. If any error is found somewhere, those books are being discarded.

The Education Minister visited the seasonal press, Janata Place and Proma Press in Matuail. She was accompanied by officials of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board and officials of the Ministry of Education.
