Tk 300 crore has been allocated for 15,000 government primary schools in the country. Out of this amount, each school will get Tk two lakh and this money will be given for short-term school repairs.

This money has been allocated under the Primary Education Development Program (PEDP-4). This information was received from the Department of Primary Education on Thursday (January 6).

This allocation will be monitored to ensure that the money is not spent in any other sector and all vouchers will be kept for the full expenditure.

Initially the statement of expenditure of money allocated for minor repairs of the school should be sent along with the Director of Planning and Development Branch of the Directorate of Primary Education. This work will be done by the field level officials.

Instructions in this regard have been given to the Divisional Deputy Director, District Primary Education Officer and Upazila Education Officers. They will oversee the whole thing.

HM Abul Bashar, Deputy Director, PEDP-4, said that the allocated money could not be spent on any other purpose under any circumstances. Excess money of the allotted amount cannot be withdrawn. Vouchers must be kept at all costs of repairs for audit activities.
