Tk
300 crore has been allocated for 15,000 government primary schools in the
country. Out of this amount, each school will get Tk two lakh and this money
will be given for short-term school repairs.
This
money has been allocated under the Primary Education Development Program
(PEDP-4). This information was received from the Department of Primary
Education on Thursday (January 6).
This
allocation will be monitored to ensure that the money is not spent in any other
sector and all vouchers will be kept for the full expenditure.
Initially
the statement of expenditure of money allocated for minor repairs of the school
should be sent along with the Director of Planning and Development Branch of
the Directorate of Primary Education. This work will be done by the field level
officials.
Instructions
in this regard have been given to the Divisional Deputy Director, District
Primary Education Officer and Upazila Education Officers. They will oversee the
whole thing.

Abul Bashar, Deputy Director, PEDP-4, said that the allocated money could not
be spent on any other purpose under any circumstances. Excess money of the
allotted amount cannot be withdrawn. Vouchers must be kept at all costs of
repairs for audit activities.
