Due to the threats posed by
the mounting Covid-19 infections, the administrators of Jahangirnagar
University (JU) have decided to discontinue in-person classes.
JU Proctor Dr. Md Firoz Ahmed
told the media that the decision was made in an administrative meeting on
Wednesday (5 January).
"The authorities'
decision has yet to be publicly revealed," he continued.
"In-person classes will
remain closed from Sunday [9 January] until further notice," said Acting
Registrar Rahima Kaniz.
The continuous examinations
and practical sessions, on the other hand, will take place in small groups in
several classrooms, ensuring social distance and health protocols.
"If necessary, the
number of exam halls and groups for practical exams would be raised," she
said.
