Ministry Announces MPO Enrollment for New Edu Institutions

The list of new educational institutions MPO enrollment may be released later this month or early next month, the education ministry said.

According to the concerned sources, an application has already been accepted to enroll non-MPO educational institutions in the new financial year. About six thousand applications have been submitted for MPO registration. This includes three thousand secondary and higher secondary and degree level. Applications for the remaining three thousand technical, vocational, and madrasa level educational institutions.

At present, the final stage of verification and selection of applications and the collection of reports of the educational institutions applying from the district level is underway. Although there was some delay due to the joining of the new education secretary, now the work of MPO registration is in full swing.

Asked about this, Fauzia Jafreen, convener of the MPO Verification and Selection Committee of the private educational institution and Additional Secretary (Secondary-II) of the Directorate Of Secondary & Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, said that the work of new MPO registration has progressed considerably. The work is now at an end. The MPO registration will be announced in February if we get the information we asked for. However, if the reports are not received in the first week of March.

Another member of the selection committee, Director (College and Administration) of the Directorate Of Secondary & Higher Education of the Ministry, Professor Shahedul Khabir, said the committee has held two meetings since the application was completed. The information provided by the educational institution is currently being verified. He also said that the work could be completed within this month.

Meanwhile, on September 30 last year, the Ministry of Education issued a public notice to enroll private educational institutions (schools and colleges) in MPO. Then on November 7, a 9-member committee was formed to verify and select the application for MPO registration. At the same time a sub-committee of four more members was formed to assist the committee.

The number of private educational institutions that have so far registered MPO in the country is about 33 thousand. There are about 7,000 educational institutions that are not MPO registered. Lastly, on 23 October 2019, the Prime Minister announced the MPO registration of 2,630 educational institutions.
