The government will buy 11 crore 2 lakh 1 thousand 474
textbooks for the academic year 2023 with the aim of distributing free
textbooks to primary and secondary level students. The Cabinet Committee on
Government Procurement has approved the purchase proposal for printing, binding
and supply of these textbooks at a cost of Tk 489 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand
926.
This approval was given in the meeting of the Cabinet
Committee on Government Procurement under the chairmanship of Finance Minister
AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday (September 21).
After the meeting, the decision of the meeting was announced
by the Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division M Abdul Barik.
It is reported that these textbooks will be procured through
the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) under the Department of Secondary
and Higher Education.
It is reported that the textbooks include - ibtedai (Class I
& II), secondary (Bangla & English Version), Class VI & VII, Dakhil
Class VI & VII for the 2023 academic year for free textbook distribution to
primary and secondary level students, Teacher's Guide and Technical Books
(Trade Books).
The additional secretary said that the proposal to buy these
textbooks through open bidding in 182 lots has been approved. These textbooks
will be purchased for the next academic year.
