International Right to Information Day was observed at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) with the theme 'Importance of Internet in Free Flow of Information'.

A colorful procession was held in front of the administrative building of the university on this occasion on Thursday (September 28).

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md Didar-ul-Alam, University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Baki and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Newaz Mohammad Bahadur were present. University students, teachers, officers and employees participated in the procession.

In a brief speech, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Didar-ul-Alam said that ensuring the right to information is very important in terms of stopping irregularities and corruption and good governance. The Right to Information Act was passed by the National Assembly in 2009, soon after the formation of the government.

International Right to Information Day is celebrated on September 28 every year since it was recognized by the General Assembly of UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. This year, the day was celebrated by the Information Commission in Bangladesh with the slogan 'If you get information on the Internet, peace will come to the people'.
