The University of Scholars celebrated the Great Victory Day through various events. This event was organized on Saturday (December 16) on the occasion of the 52nd Great Victory Day at the Banani campus of the University of Scholars.
A discussion meeting was organized in the university auditorium at 3:30 pm. University of Scholars Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid was present as the chief guest. Dr. Roshan Ara Akhter (Acting Vice-Chancellor), Registrar Captain Mobashwer Ali Khandkar, PSC, BN (Retd.) and Shampratik Deshkal’s Joint News Editor Md Zafrullah Khan were present as special guests on the occasion.
University Assistant Director (Admin) Abhishek Reza Promise and EEE Department Assistant Professor Anirban Sarkar discussed the importance of Victory Day in the meeting. At the beginning of the ceremony, a moment of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the freedom struggle.
In the speech of the chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Dr. Mamunur Rashid said, " On 16 December in 1971, Bangladesh was born as an independent country at the cost of the supreme sacrifice of the lives of millions of people, I pray for their souls peace today. On the day of this historic victory, I humbly remember Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation and the greatest Bengali for a thousand years, who brought freedom to the country's freedom-crazed people by jumping into the freedom war.
In the speech of the special guest, Registrar Captain Mobashwer Ali Khandkar, PSC, BN (retd.) said that on this day of victory, the young generation should play a constructive role in taking Bangladesh further in the world. At this time, he also called upon the students to not only limit themselves to the syllabus but to fulfill their social responsibility in the work of nation building.
Zafar Khan, the Joint News Editor of the Shampratik Deshkal, said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman spent his valuable time in the dark prison cell to bring back the country's heritage and ethnicity. His only vow was to work for the people of Bangladesh through struggle only for the liberation of the people of this country, avoiding personal comforts.
He said, now is the time to think about what should be done to make the youth society a proud nation of the future.
After the discussion, the function was announced by cutting the cake decorated with the design of Victory Day. The program was moderated by Moumita Tanjila, Lecturer of Business Administration Department and Abu M Fuad, Lecturer of EEE Department.
