The entrance examination for admission to both government and private dental colleges, as well as the dental units within medical colleges, is scheduled for tomorrow, March 8, for the academic session 2023-24. The one-hour exam will commence at 10 am, with 93 candidates vying for each available seat.

As per the official notification, the determination of the merit list will involve deducting five marks from the aggregate scores of candidates who passed their HSC, 'A' level, or equivalent exams the preceding year. For students admitted to government medical or dental colleges or units, the penalty will be increased to 10 marks.

The application process for the admission test commenced on January 15 and concluded on February 3, with a total of 50,491 candidates applying for the entrance exam. There are 540 seats available in the dental units of government dental colleges and eight medical colleges across the country.

The written test will comprise 100 questions, each carrying one mark, based on the HSC or equivalent syllabus. The subject-wise distribution includes 20 marks for Physics, 25 for Chemistry, 30 for Biology, 15 for English, and 10 for General Knowledge (focusing on Bangladesh History and Liberation War). Each incorrect answer will incur a penalty of 0.25 marks, with the minimum passing score set at 40.
