According to the new curriculum, the public examination that will be held at the end of class ten will be called the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination as it is now. However, this public examination and half-yearly and annual assessment of students will not remain as it is now.

In the new system, students will be evaluated through activity-based and written tests. Activities mean doing assignments, presenting, researching, demonstrating, planning, etc. The weightage or average weightage of the manual assessment will be 50 percent. On the other hand, the weightage of the written part will be 50 percent. The question papers of the written part will follow the content of the activities.

The New Format

Last year, the country started providing education in a new curriculum. Currently, students in primary grades I to III and VI to IX are studying the new curriculum. In 2027, the new curriculum will be introduced in class 12. Those currently studying in Class IX will appear for the first time in the SSC exam as per the new curriculum.

The SSC examination will be under the education boards as of now. The committee did not mention anything in the recommendation part about the total time of examination. However, several sources related to the committee say that the time will be five hours including written and activity-based evaluation. Out of this, the amount of time for the written part and the amount of time for the activity-based part will be decided according to the needs of the subject.

The SSC examination will be held under the education boards as before. The committee did not mention anything in the recommendation part about the total time of examination. However, several sources related to the committee say that the time will be five hours including written and activity-based evaluation. Out of this, the amount of time for the written part and the amount of time for the activity-based part will be decided according to the requirements of the subject.

According to NCTB sources, the written test may be held for two hours in each subject. The remaining three hours will be allotted for activity-based assessment.

In the new system, there will be no marks in the assessment of students. According to NCTB, the results will be published on seven scales separately in the assessment. They will be mentioned in the prescribed table on the card. That is, according to the specified indicators, the performance data will be mentioned in Table.

In the new curriculum, the assessment results will be stored in an app called 'Naipunya'. The committee said the craft app should also be updated as per the final assessment methodology. Besides, the training of officials should be arranged.

The recommendations made by the committee formed by the Ministry of Education for coordinating the activities of implementing the new curriculum and finalizing the evaluation system have mentioned such a system. The committee will give their recommendation to the Education Minister. It will then be taken up for approval in the pre-scheduled National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCCC) meeting following the ancillary process. Once approved by the committee, the new evaluation structure will be communicated to all.
