From now on, MPO registered
private teachers and employees will get retirement benefits with increments.
This was stated by the Secretary of the Private Teachers Employees Retirement
Board, Principal Sharif Ahmed Saadi.
From now on, MPO registered
private teachers and employees will get the equivalent retirement benefit of 75
months, which will be finalized at the next board meeting, he added.
He was speaking as the chief
guest at an exchange meeting with teachers and staff of private schools,
colleges and madrasas at the conference hall of Barisal Amrit Lal Dey College
on Saturday (September 25). The meeting was presided over by the Principal of the
College Subhas Chandra Pal.
He said earlier, teachers and
staff had to go to Dhaka and submit retirement documents. Now they can apply
online from home.
He said that on an average, it
costs around Tk 85 crore per month to provide retirement benefits, of which Tk
65 crore comes from teachers' 6% deduction and the remaining Tk 22 crore has to
be brought from the government treasury.
Professor Dr. Moniruzzaman
Shahin, Director, Bangabandhu Liberation War Bangladesh Research Institute,
National University was the special guest at the meeting.
