The Ministry of Primary and Mass
Education has decided to conduct Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination in
Government Primary Schools by next April. Those who pass the exam will be
recruited by July.
The decision was taken at a
meeting chaired by State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Mohammad Zakir
Hossain at the ministry's meeting room at noon on Wednesday (March 9), a press
release said today (March 10).
The Department of Primary
Education issued a notification on October 20 last year to fill 32,577 vacant
posts of assistant teachers. However, due to Covid-19, it was not possible to
take the recruitment test. More than ten thousand posts of assistant teachers
have already fallen vacant due to retirement. This has led to shortage of
teachers in schools, which is hampering the teaching activities. In order to
solve this problem, the ministry has decided to recruit about 45,000 assistant
teachers by combining the vacancies of the previous notification and the
vacancies after the notification.
In this context, Primary and Mass
Education Secretary Aminul Islam Khan said that there is no alternative to
education for the development, progress and building of a knowledge based
society. Primary education builds the foundation of the nation. So the government
is committed to ensuring quality primary education. Necessary steps will be
taken for this purpose as soon as possible
The meeting was attended by the Director-General of the Department of Primary Education Alamgir Mohammad
Mansurul Alam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry Abu Bakar Siddique, Ruhul
Amin, Mosharraf Hossain and others.
