Bangladeshi dancer Pooja Sengupta will attend United Nations International Dance Council general assembly scheduled to be held in France.

Pooja, artistic director of Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre and a member of International Dance Council of UNESCO, will be the first Bangladeshi dancer to attend the assembly.

The 23th edition of the assembly will be held on December 4 in Paris.

‘I’m fortunate that I got the opportunity of representing Bangladesh on such a prestigious platform. I am currently busy preparing for the upcoming general assembly. I want to give the global dance community a glimpse into the dance scene of Bangladesh,’ Pooja Sengupta told New Age.

Turongomi and Pooja became members of International Dance Council (CID), the official world-wide organisation for all forms of dance, in July.

‘They selected our organisation because we have performed at a lot of events in Asia under the banner of World Dance Alliance,’ said Pooja.
