Warner Bros Shuffles Calendar Again

‘The Batman’ flies to 2022 Post ‘Dune’ drift, ‘Matrix 4’ moves up to Christmas 2021, ‘Shazam! 2’ zaps to 2023 and more WB changes.

Before this weekend, over 500 movie theaters in the US will close, throwing the film industry into a tailspin.

Warner Bros. re-placed a number of highly awaited films on its calendar on Monday, including "Dune" and now "The Batman."

Cineworld said earlier Monday that it would temporarily close all of its U.S. and U.K. Due to misleading box office outcomes and the postponement of movies such as "Black Widow," "Wonder Woman 1984," and "No Time to Die."

Batman, which stars as the caped crusader Robert Pattinson, is once again on the move. After a series of development delays, the release date of the superhero pic in theaters is being postponed from Oct. 1, 2021 to March 4, 2022, confirmed Monday evening by Warner Bros.

Warners isn't ceding the 2021 fall date entirely. Instead, it will now open Dune on Oct. 1.

The untitled fourth Matrix movie going up from April 1, 2022, to Dec. 22, 2021, contains other big changes.

On the DC front, from June 3, 2022, to Nov. 4, 2022, The Flash, starring Ezra Miller as the speedy superhero, is going back. Shazam!  Fury of the Gods leaves the date of Nov. 4, 2022 and moves to June 2, 2023, while Black Adam's Dwayne Johnson spinoff is shifting away from its slot on Dec. 22, 2021 and is now revised. On Christmas 2020, Wonder Woman 1984 remains.

In other changes: the videogame adaptation Minecraft is exiting its March 4, 2022 date and is now updated.
