Pori Moni Placed on Remand Again

A Dhaka court has placed actress Pori Moni on one-day remand for the third time in a complaint filed with Banani Thana under the Narcotics Control Act.

The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikul Islam's court on Thursday.

Earlier, the actress was produced before the chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) court in Dhaka from Kashimpur jail in Gazipur around 8:30 am.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday sought another five-day remand for actress Pori Moni in a case filed with Banani Thana.

Investigation officer of the case and CID inspector, Golam Mostafa filed a petition seeking another five-day remand with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas.  Subsequently, the court set August 19 for the hearing.

Earlier on August 16, the defendant's lawyer Mujibur Rahman filed a bail petition and subsequently, the court set August 18 for the bail hearing.

On August 4, RAB conducted an operation and arrested Pori Moni from her house at Banani. Various types of drugs were reportedly seized from her house.

After the arrest, she was taken to the RAB headquarters. Later, RAB-1 filed a case against Pori Moni under the Narcotics Act.

On August 5, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid granted a four-day remand in the case.

On August 10, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas's court granted another two-day remand for Pori Moni.
