Neela Chowdhury, the late actor Salman Shah's mother, filed a new no-confidence petition against the final report in his death case on Sunday.

Manunur Rashid, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, did not issue an order on the no-confidence petition right away.

On February 25, 2020, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) presented the case's final report. They were instructed to conduct the investigation after Neela Chowdhury filed a no-confidence petition on February 10 of the same year in response to an earlier probe report submitted by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

In its findings, the PBI dismissed the murder charge, claiming that the Bangla film industry superstar committed suicide as a result of a family feud. As a result of the interruption of routine court activity owing to the Covid-19 outbreak, trial proceedings became halted.

Faruk Ahmed, the complainant's lawyer, informed the media on Sunday that he had urged the court to enable Neela to give her statement on the newest no-confidence motion electronically because she is now ill in London, UK.

On September 6, 1996, the country was devastated to learn about Salman Shah's tragic death. At his Eskaton home, his body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan.

His father, Kamaruddin Chowdhury, reported his son's death to the Ramna police station as an unnatural death. He later filed an application to turn the case into a murder investigation, and the court ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to look into it.

CID presented its final report to the court on November 3, 1997, concluding that the death was a suicide. Salman Shah's family, on the other hand, has disputed the study's findings and has demanded further research.

The court ordered a judicial investigation into the case on May 19, 2003.

Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Haque presented the judicial investigative report to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Shaha on July 9, 2014, once again alleging suicide as the cause of death.

Neela Chowdhury filed a no-confidence petition against the judicial probe report on December 21, 2014.
